W.T. Lewis Elementary: The Bulldog Art Club is a place for practicing artists to hone in on their skills, develop their techniques and portfolios, collaborate with other artists like themselves, create bonds with the community through the arts, and learn how to work together through group projects that will beautify the school and community. The Bulldog Art Club is open to students in all grade levels, Kindergarten through 5th grade. Each month will focus on a different medium and complete a different piece of art.
The cost for January’s Art Club meeting will be $35 per student, which includes all supplies needed & a snack/juice. Each month, a new sign up & registration will be sent out. Any additional proceeds will benefit the general fund, hospitality fund, technology fund & professional development fund.
Art pieces are subject to be used for the Bossier Parish i3 Art Expo in February. Selected Art pieces will be kept and stored by Mrs. Mills and will be returned after the i3 Art Expo.

W.T. Lewis Elementary: Reminder! We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of our students in the 2nd quarter! Families are welcome to join us! The Quarter 2 Awards Assembly will be held TOMORROW, Thursday, January 9th in the W.T. Lewis Gym.
W.T. Lewis Elementary: All W.T. Lewis students are invited to participate in their homeroom poetry contest on Friday, January 24th. Each homeroom will choose two students to represent their class on Wednesday, January 29th for the grade level poetry contest. If you would like your student to participate, complete the form sent home today and return it to your student’s homeroom teacher.
Contest Rules:
Students must recite a patriotic poem.
Students will be eliminated from judging if they go over the required number of lines below.
Props will not be allowed.
Student costumes are allowed but will not affect judging. Students will be judged on the following four criteria: memorization, pronunciation, expression, and confidence/poise.
Line Requirements:
Kindergarten students will recite a 4 line poem.
First grade students will recite a 6-8 line poem.
Second grade students will recite an 8-12 line poem.
Third grade students will recite a 12-16 line poem.
Fourth grade students will recite a 16-20 line poem.
Fifth grade students will recite a 20-24 line poem.
** A line should be a maximum of 15 words.**

Good afternoon! After a briefing today with the National Weather Service and Bossier Parish emergency agencies, Bossier Schools will be open Thursday, January 9. However, the YEP program will be canceled and all extracurricular and after-school activities will be postponed until a later time.
We will continue to carefully monitor the forecast and provide an update at 4 p.m. Thursday regarding school operations on Friday.
